RESUM

Anàlisi de les maneres de presentació del motiu de la immaculada concepció. [BBAHLM]

"It is quite clear that Sor Isabel was operating within a gendered authorial environment. She was writing for a female readership and her purpose in writing was, as I have argued, to build up a sense of female community within the walls of the convent. Given the way Sor Isabel consciously empowers the female readership through their association with the events of the Conception of the Virgin Mary, she can readily be categorized as a participant in the pro-feminist debate. The question remains asa to whether this categorization limits the scope of her vision. Her writing may occasionally touch on key elements of the debate but to circumscribe her uniqueness may be to detract from it. Should it then be argued that the main preoccupation of Sor Isabel was the reinforcement of conventual observance, the promotion of the meditative way of life amongst the sisters, as well as the creation of a female community at Santa Trinidad? It is certainly true that this was a key element of her writing. She draws the sisters into the events of the Vita to encourage their contemplation as well as their observance, and finally to encourage their own journeu in faith within the walls of the Santa Trinidad as a community of religious in close alliance with their Bridegroom. are the two porposes mutually exclusive?"
